Senior PHP + React Engineer – Contract

Job Description

We are dscout. At our core, we are People Nerds. We empower our customers to meet the people who matter to them in the moments that matter most. Customer-obsessed companies and agencies like Salesforce, Sonos, Groupon, and Best Buy use dscout to build better products and services because of people like you. We are building a smart and driven team, and we would love for you to join us.

You’ll be working on a new startup-like team, within the larger dscout. We’ve been around for a couple years, have found product-market fit, paying customers, and are aiming to expand. In this expansion, there will be tons of opportunities to solve new user problems, which we’ll do collaboratively. We’ll also have lots of opportunities for performance improvements, and scalability projects. We believe our team’s work is essential in supporting research efforts (e.g. usability, UXR, generative, etc) – through panel management and recruitment. You can think of our product as a CRM for user research – with a core database, emailing, surveying, scheduling, and incentivizing capabilities.

what you will do

  • Develop our customer-facing web app, both front-end (React) and back-end (PHP)
  • Be quick to “ship and iterate” based on customer feedback
  • Collaborate with PM and designer to make customer-informed decisions
  • Tackle performance and scalability issues
  • Show leadership in backend systems, and be responsible for uptime, performance, reliability
  • Own the technical quality of your product

what you need to have

  • More PHP focus with basic React skills
  • Product focused, and satisfaction in solving problems for others
  • Experience with performance optimization (e.g. reducing response time, CPU load, ram, etc)
  • 4-5 years of experience, strong backend experience
  • 2+ experience with React or other mainstream JS frameworks
  • Experience with PHP (Laravel preferred)
  • Experience with MySQL
  • Good understanding of architecture and API design

what is nice to have

  • Entrepreneurial experience in a small business or startup
  • AWS experience

We do our best to write realistic, accurate job descriptions, but we also recognize that great talent comes in many forms and from many backgrounds. Not sure if you meet all of the above bullets? Please apply anyway!
