AI Product Manager https://remotonly.com/?post_type=job_listing&p=8195 Wed, 15 Mar 2023 09:08:43 +0000 https://remotonly.com/?post_type=job_listing&p=8195 AI your people will love. That’s our vision, and it contains multitudes 🙂

AI

your people

will love.

We’re filling a big need for generative AI built ground-up for the needs of enterprises and embraced by their teams. As generative AI became a board-level initiative almost overnight for most enterprises, our market matured dramatically and we benefit from that tailwind. Our product is highly differentiated, our roadmap is transformative, and our customers are happy and vocal.

🛣 Traction and backing

Writer is deployed widely at leading companies like UnitedHealthcare, Accenture, Intuit, UiPath, HubSpot, Spotify, Hilton, Uber, and Deloitte. We have an NRR of +135% and we’re just getting started.

Our inbound funnel is large and growing fast (+3M visitors/month, thousands of weekly ICP trial starts). In late 2021, we received a $21M Series A led by Insight Partners, with participation from Google’s Gradient Ventures, GTMFund, and a world-class group of founders, operators, and angels. We’re a clear leader in a space receiving significant investor interest, and will be able to make the investments required to maintain that position.

🎯 Why it’s the perfect time to join

  • We’re still only 50 people. There’s a lot of room to contribute and grow an enduring SaaS company. You’ll have unquestionably made it happen.
  • We have strong PMF. We have strong DAUs and deep usage. People spend hours in Writer. The work you’ll do will have a direct impact on some of the top companies in the world — and make work more enjoyable for the users who depend on us to meet their goals.
  • Build it, nail it, scale it. We’re at ‘scale it’ and are continually learning. If you like helping turn dirt paths into smooth roads, now is the perfect time to join.

🤓 What we’re like

  • We connect. We bring our whole selves to work. We’re a diverse group on multiple dimensions, and we share that with each other.
  • We challenge. We’re first principles thinkers, and those principles guide our product and GTM decisions. Things you won’t hear at Writer include “Because that’s what X wants” or “Company Y does it this way.” We’re all on the same side as we build Writer our own way.
  • We own. Building a company that achieves escape velocity is hard work. We take full ownership over our schedules and our outcomes, because we believe that’s the purest-energy way to work that hard.

📈 Our operating cadence

  • We’re a low-meeting (<4 hours/week for most people) culture, with 1-2 weeks a quarter that are totally meeting-free.
  • We’ve been distributed since day 1, and our distributed processes and rituals are long-engrained.
  • There’s low overhead, and projects are single-threaded.
  • We break down company milestones into quarterly goals and projects, and emphasize by team the one thing that matters the most.
  • All of our dashboards and metrics are transparent, live in a single view, and are shared with everyone.
  • We’re good at communicating async, use DMs and distracting notifications with caution, and respect each other’s work hours. And we’d never send you a calendar invite before making sure you’re free.
  • Weeks are tough, but weekends are sacred.

What’s the interview process like?

Every interview starts the same way: two to three casual conversations with team members so (1) we can get to know you, your background, interests, and career goals and (2) you can learn about CommandBar.

After those conversations take place, we’ll agree on a written interview plan that’s tailored to your role. Usually this begins with a domain-specific screen (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, or a portfolio review for a designer) and may include a take-home component if needed.

It’s very important to us that our interview process be transparent, as stress-free-as-possible, and gives you an accurate picture of what working at CommandBar is like.

One last note…

Please treat this job description as a starting point for a conversation. If the role sounds interesting, we’d love for you to apply even if you don’t think you’re a perfect fit.

At Netlify, our Product Management team is the glue between the customers we serve, the technology we build, and our business. We anchor our product teams around cross-functional pillars to drive collaboration, provide autonomy and ownership, and enable us to scale, conquer, and divide.  Our teams have been remote-first since our inception and we’re globally distributed, spanning across North America and Europe. We’re biased towards asynchronous planning and communication and take documentation seriously, meaning fewer meetings and more execution.

As a Senior Director of Product Manager with our team, you’ll oversee a team of talented Product Managers and will partner with our SVP of Product to own the strategy and execution of Netlify’s offerings. This role is highly visible, as you’ll be driving our product direction and partnering with all areas of the business, including engineering, design, sales, and marketing.

As a leader, you’ll be responsible for the happiness and productivity of the members of your team while fostering a culture of mentorship and collaborative delivery. We expect you to foster autonomy and ownership, but also be able to roll up your sleeves and dive in when needed. In other words, you’re a great situational leader, with a default leadership style that leans towards the “support” model.
  • Have regular career growth conversations with your direct reports and coach them in areas of improvement
  • Foster a growth-mindset, learning culture.
  • Regularly connect with customers and partners to build direct knowledge of their needs and strong user empathy. Combine with smart use of product metrics to build a broader picture.
  • Use customer insight, industry knowledge, product data, product metrics combined with a technical understanding of the product to inform product direction and strategy
  • Partner with various cross-functional teams, including engineering, UX, data, marketing, and sales teams to understand the customer landscape, influence the platform direction, define the product roadmap, and benchmark the success of the platform against crisply-defined metrics.
  • Establish strong async communication rhythms with your peers and leaders, practicing transparency and visibility
  • Ship, analyze impact, gather feedback and always iterate

What You’ll Bring:

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, preferably leading and scaling developer-focused products with a solid understanding of web development and the PaaS/SaaS space
  • 5+ years of experience leading Product Management teams and a history of managing product leaders through periods of change and iteration
  • A breadth of experience in working remotely with a high level of asynchronous communication
  • A deep passion for solving complex, ambiguous problems
  • A high level of comfort with ambiguity and interest in making a difference
  • A good sense of ability to work autonomously and keep peers and leadership informed about progress and blockers
  • A breadth of experience in defining technical requirements and understanding engineering and platform constraints.
  • A high level of comfort in defining user flows and working with design colleagues and a good sense of what makes a great user experience.
  • The ability to make data-driven decisions and use those to define a broader product vision.
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach that leads with curiosity and a deep passion for solving complex, ambiguous problems.

About you:

  • You have 4+ years of product management experience.
